About the Owner

Timothy Gilbert is the founder of Koda Group, Inc. and a highly regarded Private Investigator with more than two decades of professional investigative experience. He began his investigative career in 2003, bringing to the private sector a distinguished background in law enforcement. As a police officer, Mr. Gilbert developed extensive expertise in undercover operations, criminal investigations, and advanced surveillance methodologies. His work with specialized undercover units helped shape the sophisticated investigative practices he employs today.

 

In recognition of his exemplary service, Mr. Gilbert was named Officer of the Year by the Detroit Police Department in 2000, one of the department’s highest honors. Seeking to apply his expertise in the private sector, he assumed the role of Primary Investigator at Koda Group in 2008. He is one of only two licensed Certified Criminal Defense Investigators (CCDI) in the State of Michigan, the sole licensed CCDI in Ohio, and also holds professional investigative licenses and certifications in Indiana and Illinois.

 

Before his law enforcement career, Mr. Gilbert served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a decorated Marine and received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 1996. The discipline and leadership cultivated during his military service continue to inform his methodical, disciplined, and results-oriented investigative approach.

 

Mr. Gilbert has collaborated with the Federal Government and has extensive experience working with state and local agencies across multiple jurisdictions. His background in covert operations, surveillance, and undercover investigations enables him to manage complex and sensitive matters with precision, discretion, and professionalism.

 

Over the course of his career, Mr. Gilbert has directed thousands of investigations, developing comprehensive expertise in investigative strategy, case analysis, evidence development, trial preparation, and litigation support. His ability to integrate multiple investigative methodologies allows him to deliver accurate, reliable, and actionable intelligence in both criminal and civil cases.

 

As a highly trained and extensively experienced Certified Criminal Defense Investigator, Timothy Gilbert is widely recognized as one of the region’s most trusted professionals for complex investigative assignments. Mr. Gilbert has also served as the Regional Director for the National Council of Investigative and Security Services, member of the National Association of Legal Investigators; Michigan Council of Professional Investigators, and the World Association of Detectives, and serves locally as a Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Westland and is the past President of the Chamber of Commerce Board in Northville, MI.  His devotion to the community sets Mr. Gilbert apart from others.
